Abstract

The composite prefabricated building wall has external and internal linings which sandwich a core of concrete (6) and insulating material (5); and includes transverse shear connectors passing through the insulating layer to provide a mechanical connection between outer finishing layer (2), support plates (1) and the concrete. The shear connectors may take the form of elongated bands (3) from which rods (3a) project perpendicularly at regular longitudinal intervals, with the bands (3) sitting on the outer face of the insulating layer (5), and the rods (3a) passing through the layer (5) to project into the concrete (6). A high strength adhesive is used to bond the plates (1) onto the back of the bands. The concrete core may include mesh reinforcement.
