Abstract

The vane motor or compressor has a cylindrical housing (1) with an eccentrically mounted rotor (4) supported by a shaft (25). The rotor has four radial slots (7, 8, 9, 10) which guide the vanes (10, 11, 12, 13). The inner ends of the vanes are provided with short axially projecting shafts (16) which fit inside the inner race of a ball bearing (24). The ball bearings n24) are mounted in the end covers of the motor, concentrically with the bore of the housing (1). As the rotor rotates the tips of the vanes touch the bore of the casing without excessive load since the centrifugal forces are resisted by the ball bearing (24) thus reducing friction and wear of the vane tips.
