Abstract

Builder-free, stable, liquid, heavy-duty detergent compsn. contains (a) 20-70(35-60) wt. % mixt. of surfactants, consisting w.r.t. total surfactant content. of (1) 30-80(40-70) wt. % non-ionic surfactant, prepd. by condensing 7-15 (8-12) mols. ethylene oxide with 1 mol. 17-25C alcohol (esp. tallow alcohol); (2) 10-60 wt. % non-ionic surfactant, prepd. by condensing 2-10 mols. ethylene oxide with 1 mol. 9-15C alcohol, or their mixts., (3) 10-50 wt. % anionic detergent; and (b) 80-35(65-40) wt. % aliphatic 1-4(2-4)C alcohol or a mixt. of water and this alcohol in wt. ratio (=10:1(2:1 to 5:1). Mixt. has pH 6.5-9.5. Compsn. may be used (i) in undiluted form, for washing and cleaning textiles, esp. for removing stains before washing and (ii) in an aq. wash bath in >0.4(0.6-0.8) wt. % concn. at 10-60 degrees C. Gives improved cleaning of textiles. The compsns. do not cause overfoaming in washing machines.
