Abstract

Machine for shredding, compacting and tying paper up in a bale comprises an endless conveyor belt, a shredder comprising blades or circular saws, a compacting chamber with a crank-connecting rod-piston system, ram or endless screw, and a tying system which allows the bale to be fixed by "needles" with a cord which is continuously unwound ahead of the bale due to the effect of advance movement of the paper. When the desired compression is reached, the "needle" passes back through the compacting chamber with the cord. The cord is cut in two, one part serving to secure the hole with the cord portion which is unwound ahead of the paper, while the other part serves to tie up the next bale by the same method.
