Abstract

A double walled knitted sack is formed on a Raschelle Knitting machine and has seams formed during kniting along its edges and along the bottom. A tie cord is cloated between adjacent warp rows near to the mouth of the sack and is held in position by the weft yarns, and the ends of the tie card are attached t the seams of the sack. A loop of tie cord is left at each end of the tie cord immediately prior to its point of attachment to the seam so that the tie cord can be pulled up to form a single loop. The sack is cheap to produce and the loop left in the tie cord makes it easy to grip.
