Abstract

The dispenser for heavy reels of metallic wire consists of a base (3) and a cover (2) with vertical cylindrical sides and a conical top. The cover has an opening (5), with a removable lid (7), through which the wire can be dispensed. In the event of fracture of the wire the cover must be removed to retrieve the end. To ease the removal of the cover it is retained in place by a cord (10). The ends of the cord are fixed in the base (8, 9), and the cord is passed up the sides of the cover and through grooves in vertical pieces (14) attached to the cover. The cord is then held against the cover by a rubber loop. The vertical pieces are also used for stacking packages. Two cord arrangements can also be used.
