Abstract

Buildings are erected using square precast elements with a leg at each corner. The elements are placed side by side on a base-slab, four legs of four adjacent elements being placed edge to edge to form rectangular shuttering for an internal column. The legs are then bound together to prevent any movement and reinforcing bars are inserted with starter bars protruding above the top. Concrete is poured onto the surface formed by the elements to form a floor and into the core of the internal columns. Once this has hardened, another layer of elements forming the next storey is assembled with the legs forming the internal columns placed directly over those of the preceding storey. The protruding bars are cast into the next section of concrete.
