Abstract

A shotgum cartridge is formed by injection moulding one part e.g. the firing cap using pref. a first pair of half moulds and then pref. replacing one of the half moulds with a second half mould for a second moulding process so that the already moulded firing cap pref. forms part of the moulding cavity used for the second moulding process during which the cylindrical casing is moulded onto the firing cap. In an alternative process the casing may be moulded onto a metal firing cap. Pref. the firing cap has mechanical locking formation e.g. a screw thread onto which a part of the casing can be moulded to ensure that the two parts are firmly secured together.
