Abstract

The outrigger consists of a cruved plane fin attached to the craft by means of a cable fixed to a boom (2) at the top of the fin. extending rearwards from teh fin is a shaft (4) which connects the fin to a rudder which has a fin and which can be controlled by means of another cable (7) passed through a pulley (8), on the inner end of the boom. The outrigger is connected to the mast by a cable and also to the hull by a forestay. The position of the fin is controlled according to the set of the sails.
