Abstract

The sailing boat has the forward sail on each mast formed as individual sails rotating concentrically to the mast, but at different radii. This allows these sails to be set at any angle through 360 deg. under the wind, and the rigging of the jib to be transformed, so that either the individual sails form one giant one, mounted edge to edge, and with the minimum angular area, or are opened up. Intermediate settings are possible by causing the sails to overlap for various amounts. The curves through which the sails are adjustable can be for between 80 deg. and 200 deg., extending equally to port and starboard.
