Abstract

A textile fabric is needled using needles having a series of juxtaposed barbs to bulk the fabric and produce a pile on the needled surface. Pref. about 30% of the thickness of the fabric is affected. The method is used for producing matls. used in upholstering. Compared with using needled rollers the method is quicker; produces less damage to the fabric; produces less waste fibres; and produces a better bulking.
