Abstract

A centrifugal fan unit has a cylindrical drum divided into two chambers (5, 6) by a partitioning disc (4) near the centre, and fitted with end covers (2, 3). One chamber (5) has four air entries (7) equally spaced around it, and the other chamber (6) houses the turbine type rotor (11) mounted on a bracket (12) attached to the inside of its end cover (3), with the axis of the rotor parallel to the axis of the drum. This rotor houses the drive motor, and is positioned against a hole through the partitioning disc (4), through which air is drawn from the first chamber (5) into the second (6) for expulsion through an outlet (8) on the side wall. A double curved guide sheet (14, 15) between the end cover (3) and the partitioning disc (4) guides the flow of air around the rotor.
