Abstract

Road-surfacing is improved by first applying an asphalt -concrete layer contg. 100 pts. wt. of a filler (particles size 12.5mm., mainly 6.0mm) and 6 pts. wt. of a hydrocarbon binder at 140-150 degrees, using an asphalt-laying machine having a width of e.g. 8m. and provided with vibrating beams; then spreading splinters of e.g. porphyry preliminarily coated with hard bitumen; and forcing the splinters into the asphalt-concrete layer when the latter is still hot (about 140 degrees C). The method is also suitable for repairs or is produced. The method is also suitable for repairs or renovation of road-surfacing. Good rough surface is formed without imparing the bulk strength of the asphalt concrete.
