Abstract

The jewellry clasp comprises an elongate spring clip, which engages in an elongated housing with two catch positions for the clip so that in the first position the clip protrudes out from the housing and releases an insert slit for connecting one end of the necklace to an eyelet moulded onto the clip and in the second catch position the clip fits further into the housing so that the insert slit is then covered. When the clasp is manufactured the spring clip is inserted in the housing where it then remains and since the pawl which is moulded onto the clip does not protrude from the housing there is no danger of accidental opening. The last eyelet of the end of the chain or necklace can be welded on independently of the spring clip so that the latter is not subject to heat which could weaken its resilience.
