Abstract

The stopper is hollow, comprising a cylindrical portion (4) with annular grooves (8) and a bottom (5). A collar (10, 12) is provided around the top, this being hollow on its upper face and seating on the rim of the bottle neck (12). A disc (25) fits over the hollow upper face of the collar. The metal foil (13) is in contact with the disc and is formed with a skirt extending downwards over the outer surface of the bottle neck (1). This skirt is pressed inwards in two annular grooves (16, 17) to lock the foil in place. Between these grooves (16, 17) are zones of rupture (19, 20) and a pull tab, forming an opening strip (18).
