Abstract

The conductimetric analysis of gases comprises (1) deionising a soln. (esp. water) by passing it through an ion-exchange resin bed (2) mixing the soln. with the gas at a pressure of 100-700 min. Hg (3) passing the resulting soln. through a conductimetric cell (4) measuring the electrical conductivity of the soln. and (5) recycling the soln. through the resin bed. The method is for the detection and determination of water soluble gases. The use of a reduced pressure in forming the bubble stream enables the sensitivity of the appts. to be reduced by altering the saturation level for the gas. The range of application of the method is thus greater (cf prior art) and it can be used e.g. to detect the CO2 concn. in exhaled breath.
