Abstract

This sliding electrical contact maintains a connection between two surfaces moving laterally with respect to each other. The contacts are supported by a perforated strip of bronze or beryllium with self-lubricating contact studs (2) on one face made from silver and graphite and with simple contacts on the other face. The strip is sprung into a curve and fitted into a groove in one surface with the self-lubricating contacts in contact with the moving surface. The strip has a multiple of contacts along its length and its perforations permit the passage of gas as it maintains a connection between the two surfaces.
