Abstract

The rotating piston engine has a circular stator chamber within which rotates a circular rotor type piston about its eccentric axis, and can work as a two or four stroke engine. The stator chamber has slots for radial vanes whose ends are in contact with the rim of the rotating piston. The eccentric rotor diameter is such that the distance between the centre of the eccentric shaft and the remotest point of the rotor rim is slightly smaller than the radius of the chamber. The distance from the shaft centre of the nearest point of the rotor rim is not greater than half of the chamber radius. Hence the rotor does not contact the chamber walls. The radial vanes are constantly in contact with the rotor rim and variable volume pockets are generated on rotating between the vanes and the chamber and rotor walls.
