Abstract

The trailer has a U-shaped chassis frame, open to the rear so that it can be backed to surround the container, sitting on the ground. The wheels of the trailer are mounted on the sides of the frame on short stub axles and the container is lifted onto the frame by special hoists. For increased stability the rear of the U-frame is closed off, after lifting the container by bolting on a cross member. This cross member can be an extra axle unit, with the axle extending across the vehicle. For extra large, and longer containers the trailer length can be extended by adding extra axle units.
