Abstract

The system, for the wheels supporting a large tractor drawn wheeled tank, has each of the two rear wheels (2), rotating about a vertical spindle (7) for steering, attached by a T shaped arm (9) carrying the wheel axle (8), and has a cranked lever (10) connected to this vertical spindle at one end and to the wheel suspension at the other end. These two levers are interconnected by a double acting hydraulic cylinder (5), and the two cylinders for the two wheels are connected by a hydraulic circuit, arranged so that when one wheel turns, travel of the piston also causes the other piston to move accordingly and both wheels are maintained parallel. For reversing, valves in the circuit are closed so that the cylinders do not operate, and the wheels do not steer.
