Abstract

Seal comprises a malleable gasket which can be clamped in a chamber defined between two complementary clamps with a sliding fit so that the chamber can be reduced sufficiently to deform the gasket and thus seal the joint Esp. for joints in equipment for conveying corrosive chemicals or solvents. The variable volume of the chamber enclosing the gasket can compensate for small variations in the distances between the components to be joined. Pref. the gasket comprises a solid 'O' ring made of platic material, pref. PTFE.
