Abstract

The housing has a spindle (3) on which is solidly mounted a cam plate (5) and a foot pedal (4). Rotating about this spindle is a toothed plate (6). Mounted on two separate spindles are operating levers (9, 10) for the two possible drives, the inner ends of which have rollers (13, 14) which can fit in between the teeth of plate (6). One of the rollers is normally engaged in a tooth recess whilst the other lies on the top of a tooth. When the foot pedal is operated through the first part of its traverse (I right arrow II) the cam plate lifts the rollers clear of the toothed plate and when the traverse is completed (II right arrow III) the toothed plate is rotated by half a tooth and the rollers resume contact, and drive, is reversed.
