Abstract

Footwear, fitted to foot of wearer, contains (a) an upper part, (b) a sole bonded to upper part and (c) >=1 shape-retaining inner core for holding and supporting the foot in boot or shoe. Core consists of a foam, having low density and high compressive strength, of a catalysed silicone compsn. which can be injected in situ, cast and hardened. Compns. has a non-catalysted viscosity of 3000-60000 cP and can reach viscosity =200000 within 3-60 min. after addn. of catalyst. Hardened compsn. has Shore-A hardness =35 units and density =0.9 g/cc. The footwear made is standard shoes and boots, esp. walking, sports, hockey-and ski-boots.
