Abstract

Esp. suitable for linear-motor-driven, electromagnetically borne and guided vehicles on magnetic cushion tracks, as conceived for short-distance urban transport, the assembly comprises two brake shoes engaging two opposite surfaces of a rail, movable in opposite ways by means of a hydraulic cylinder in the longitudinal centre area, or similar, and led in guide members. Each of them is assembled from two similar T-shaped lamellae, one behind the other lengthways, the T cross arm on the lower side facing the other shoe being twice as thick as the centre shank. In the cross arm of each there are cutouts for penetration of the open end of the centre shank of the corresponding lamellae of the other brake shoe. Braking is effective and reliable, under uneven loading, and on fast-moving heavy vehicles.
