Abstract

Novel foodstuff compsn. contng. at least one slice of starchy matter and at least one layer of edible matter wherein the assembly is impregnated and coated with albumoid matter homogeneous in aq. soln. at low temp., the foodstuff being suitable to be restored to room temp. and prepared for consumption. Pref. the layer of edible matter is sandwiched between two layers of starchy matter which may be bread, esp. sliced bread. The edible matter is pref. proteinous e.g. hard cheese or divided matter. The albumoid matter is pref. egg mixed with glutinous material such as flour and the aq. part is pref. milk. The foodstuff is pef. stored at -10 to -80 degrees C. The foodstuff may be prod. in large amts. in specialist establishments prior to transportation and simple prepn. for use. The prod. has an improved taste.
