Abstract

A flat sheet (12) of metal, plastic or heavy gauge plastic paper is cut to the shape and size of the table top (10) and is given the finish required. It is fixed to the table surface using a synthetic adhesive, preferably in the form of a double sided tape or sheet; the adhesive on the cover side being stronger than that on the table side. When the cover is removed no adhesive remains on the table top. A variant of the cover has a deep flanged rim which fits over the sides of the table and also has a dished centre.
