Abstract

1,061,995. Carriers holding cylindrical articles. ANHEUSER-BUSCH Inc. Aug. 26, 1963, No. 33696/63. Heading B8C. The wall 17 (Fig. 1) of a carrier C to which cans A, or similar articles, are glued, has vertically aligned raised portions so that, if the cans have ridges 3, 4, these do not interefere. The raised portions may consist of longitudinal corrugations (20) (Fig. 6, not shown), flattened over areas (21) where the cans are to be secured, or may consist of vertical rows of embossments. The carrier may consist of a single sheet of paperboard, plastics, or foamed plastics, or may be folded to provide a double thickness. The two thicknesses may be held together by lugs (not shown) of one folded through the handle portions 11 (Fig. 1) of the other. The carrier is preferably of waterproof material or has a high wet strength. The surface may be rough or have fine holes. The glue used to attach the cans preferably pulls cleanly off the cans when these are removed from the carrier, and the gluing may be confined to areas which will not be touched by the lips of a person drinking from the can.
