Abstract

The checking of the correct coating of the threads of nuts and bolts by a fluid, such a used to lock an assembled joint, is carried out by adding a fluorescent agent to the liquid and illuminating it with ultra-violet. The invention allows the observation of the light emitted to be carried out in daylight. The UV is concentrated by a mirror (4) into a very small region, 5 threads at most, and the resultant light is picked up by a long opaque tube with a very small bore, about 5mm, and passed to a photoresistor (6) at the end. Electrical circuitry enables the output to give signals or to operate sorting controls.
