Abstract

The refuse is fed into a refuse container which has an inclined internal wall along which extends the first conveyor. This conveyor compresses the refuse and transports it from its upper end to the top of a cylindrical chamber. This chamber contains the second screw conveyor which forces the compacted refuse downwards into a refuse bag. The bag is carried within an open topped cylindrical container which telescopes over the open base of the cylindrical chamber. The cylindrical container is urged upwardly over the chamber end by a set of counterweights, thus improving the packing of refuse into the bag. The cylindrical container has a pair of door which open about vertical pivot axes.
