Abstract

The injector consists of a cylindrical tube closed at one end with a cone. Inside the bore is a needle type valve which also has a conical end. The valve seats on to the conical end of the cylinder. The valve is maintained off its heat by a spring. There are a number of holes in the cone through which the fuel passes. The cone angles of the full jet depends largely on the length of the holes through which it passes. The length of the holes may easily be modified by machining a hollow on the outside surface of the cone (17). The depth of this hollow reduces the hole length. The thickness of the cylinder remains constant in other parts of the assembly, thus retaining the necessary strength for the material.
