Abstract

The org. liq. contg. the metal cpd is passed through a membrane of acrylonitrile capolymer under pressure on the incoming side to give an org. soln. contg. less of the metal cpd. The press employed is pref. 1.76-351 kg/cm2 esp. 3.52-70.31 kg2cm2 and the temp. is 0-70 degrees C using metal cpd concn of 20%. Partic. for salts and complexes of Gp I(b), IV(b), V(b), VI(b), VII(c), VIII(C) metals esp. Co, Ir, Mn or Rh. The prefd. copolymer is acrylonitrile/vinyl acetate. Used for recovering catalysts etc. as distn. methods are expensive and often give rise to corrosion. Efficiency is maintained and deformation avoided.
