Abstract

Solvent extraction of sol. components of solid particles partic. roasted coffee, compressed to form a tightly packed bed by extraction under working conditions producing a decrease in viscosity of the extracting liq. as this flows through the tightly packed bed and dissolves out the sol. components. a non-stirred, porous bed is used in which at constant temp. the viscosity of the extract increases with increasing concn. of sol. components, and a temp. gradient is established over the whole length of the bed such that the viscosity of the extract between the solid particles at every point in the bed decreases in the direction of rising concn. of the extracted components in the extract.
