Abstract

Controlled quantities of liq. additive are dispersed in a high velocity airstream by bleeding part of the airstream through a loop line incorporating a reservoir of the additive. The liq. is transferred to the bleed stream from the wetted surfaces of a series of rotating discs partially immersed in the liq. Discs should be of metal with a coating of grit anchored by and coated with layers of epoxy resin. The bleed stream offtake should be adjustable and is reintroduced into the main air stream via a venturi nozzle. Used for introducing catalysts e.g. Mn methyl-cyclo-pentadienyl-tricarbonyl to enhance the combustion of fuel oils etc. to increase efficiency and reduce exhaust pollution from industrial boilers or furnaces.
