Abstract

A textile material (e.g. 90 den. polyester yarn) is advanced between two electrodes across which a generator is connected, whereby a current is passed through the textile connected, whereby a current is passed through the textile material to heat it by the Joule effect. Where the textile material is non-conductive it may be impregnated into pref. a volatile conductive fluid pref. whilst applying a finishing agent. The process may be carried out in ambient surroundings other than air and pref. the current flow through the textile material is adjustable. The method is used for drying has low energy consumption.
