Abstract

Armchairs made by assembling a framework from rigid thermoplastic mouldings with cross bars for mounting back and seat panels made of a more flexible plastic. The leg and seat support members interlock in a sprung fit and are also linked by prefabricated arm-rest mouldings. The rigid frame members are of injection moulded ABS, pref. reinforced with chopped glass fibres, and the seat and back panels of PVC. No metal frame reinforcement is used, providing a light, corrosion- and rot-proof chair. Combination of rigid and non-rigid materials requires less material and offers greater comfort than chairs of one piece construction.
