Abstract

High mol. wt. PVC issues from a wide slit extruder and is fed to heated calendar rollers where it forms a rotating bead. It then passes to a traction roller at 100-170 degrees c and a guide roller at 80-120 degrees C, between which it is stretched. It finally passes round a cooling roller. The heated rollers temps. are important to ensure the prodn. of uniformly fine thickness with equal tensile strength in both directions.
