Abstract

An elasticated knitted tape has a body portion including elasticated (e.g. rubber) yarns inserted in zig-zag configuration in the wales and an edging portion which is connected to the body portion at spaced positions by the elasticated yarn passing through the adjacent wale of the body portion. An elasticated yarn is inserted in the edging portion in a zig-zag configuration such that it passes through several (e.g. 3) stitches of the outer wale at the spaced positions and then floats over several (e.g. 2 courses) to the wale adjacent the body portion where it passes through several (e.g. flour) stitches between the spaced positions. When the elasticated yarns are straightened the edging portion separates from the body portion between the spaced positions and form a festoon.
