Abstract

A mattres comprises a rigid slab of polystyrene enclosed in a bonded PVC sheet. One or both faces are covered with foam rubber or plastic, then with felt padding, and the whole is covered with a fabric envelope. The PVC sheet, pref. 15 thou, in thickness is bonded e.g. with non-inflammable acrylic adhesive. The mattress does not sag and is relatively light.
