6-Aminopenicillanic acid derivs. (I): (where Z is: R1 is H, 1-4C alkyl or COOR5; R2 and R5 are H, or 1-4C alkyl; and R3 and R4 are H, 1-4C alkyl or alkoxy, OH, F, Cl, Br, I, CF3, NO2 or NH2) and their non-toxic salts, with antibacterial activity, useful in therapeutic compns. and as intermediates for medicinal cpds., are prepd. by reacting 6-aminopenicillanic acid, or its salt, with a benzotriazolyl fatty acid: Z=N-CR1R2-COOH, or with one of its functional derivs., and if necessary reducing a NO2 gp. in the product to NH2 and/or releasing the acid from a salt and/or converting the acid to a salt.
