Abstract

Tyre is rasped by (a) mounting the tyre on a rim which is moulded loosely on supports, (b) contacting the surface of the tyre with the side surface of a cylindrical rasp mounted on a horizontal shaft and driven so that the shaft slopes at an angle of 10-35 degrees pref. 22-32 degrees relative to the supports, (c) driving the rasp so that the tyre is rotated on the supports, and (d) removing the tread and at least a part of the breaker layers. Used for removing the tread remnant before retreading. The tread is removed rapidly, and the surface is left stuff. rough for the optimum bonding of layers of rubberised fabric.
