Abstract

Endless spun fibres are randomly formed into a fleece, across a substrate, by a pneumatic drawing device and a deflector, between which there is a tubular guide arrangement. This consists of a straight tubular guide for the fibres running along the axis of the outlet tube leading from the drawing device, as well as a tube with one or more flat surfaces, which is inclined to the axis of the guide tube and intersects it. The ratio of length ot the cross-section of the guide tube lies between 5 and 100mm-1, and the adjoining flat tube has a constant cross section approx. the same as that of the guide tube. The arrangement ensures that the cluster emerging from the drawing nozzle is subjected to a uniform speed.
