Abstract

To preserve its geometrical shape the dyed fabric is advanced between spreading rollers before it is squeezed between a first pair of pressure rollers which are arranged one above the other. Subsequently a combined impregnating and squeezing operation is carried out by means of a second pair of pressure rollers which are arranged side by side above the impregnating bath just touching the surface of the liquid. The fabric is passed through the bath and vertically upwards into the nip of the pressure rollers via guide rolls arranged in the bath. The speed of one pair of pressure rollers relative to the other pair can be adjusted, the pressure of both is controlled pneumatically or hydraulically. The apparatus may be arranged for the simultaneous treatment of one or more, preferably two strands of fabric.
