Abstract

Biologically active substances such as vitamins, enzymes, pharmaceuticals, salts, etc., may be tabletted directly (i.e. without a granulation step), if the material is in the form of small (0.04-0.80 mm) particles, encapsulated with a chemically active coating. The active residues, pref. OH or CO2H, provide cohesion via secondary valence forces. Cellulose derivs. are suitable.
