Abstract

Hollow cast brick or aggregate blocks with longitudinal surface channels aligned to accept reinforcing rods which are tensioned and sheated in a resin-bound cement which is allowed to set below the tension clamps are released, and each rod is cut to release individual, blocks or panels of blocks. Sections for panels, beams or hollows columns are described and claimed. Pref. the channels have striated walls. Produces lightweight reinforced components for cladding ceilings, landings etc. under factory rather than site conditions. Each tensioning unit stresses rods for several panels simultaneously. The volume/weight/cost of the resin (acrylic) bound cement is restricted to small section channels (200-400 mm2) rather than the main cavities.
