Abstract
An intimate mixture of the powdered alloy and a fixed quantity of an alloying element in the form of an oxide are introduced electroconducting slag, the heat for the fusion being supplied by a non-consumable electrode of graphite. The impurities are refined out of the alloy and the resulting ingot has a perfectly homogeneous structure.
