Abstract

Biocidal compositions for control and protection against contamination by microorganisms, particularly, fungi, pref. in aqs. media, including detergent additives, pref. in agriculture, on exposed seeds, contain, as slimicides, algicides, bactericides or fungicides, a salt of a strong acid, or alkali(ne earth)-, transition metl-, quaternary ammonium or phosphonium cation, or of a primary, sec. or tertiary organic base, with a hydroxyisothiazole (I) (where Z is H, 1-4C alkyl, -COOH 1-4C carboxylate, -NO2, halogen or -CN, and Z' is Hm 1-4C alkyl (-sulphinyl -sulphonyl or -thio), 8 C max. aralkyl(-sulphinyl,-sulphonyl, thio- or -amino) or 8C max. aryl(amino) or alkylamino, or halogen).
