Abstract

Nickel is recovered on an industrial scale by cementation from soln of its salts. A metal powder of suitable particle size distribution and specific surface, and being more electronegative than Ni, is added to the soln and maintained in suspension by vigourous agitation until the pptn process is complete. The Ni powder obtained is extremely fine with a high specific surface and chem. purity, it is esp suitable for the mfe. of catalysts, battery electrodes or membranes for isotropic sepn.
