Abstract

Liquid-liquid process for selective separation of molybdenum from fission products Comprising: (i) forming acid solution of fission products (ii) extracting molybdenum in organic phase by contacting solution with dialkyl phosphoric acid (iii) extracting molybdenum from organic phase by contacting with H2O2 solution. If Al is present, fission product solution is pref. acidified with H2SO4. The dialkyl phosphoric acid is pref. 200-400 ml/l. of 20% solution of (esp.) di(2-ethylexyl) phosphoric acid trace impurities are pref. removed from organic phase by washing with solution of mineral acid H2O2 solution pref. contains 0.5-5.0% by weight of H2O2 at pH of 2.
