Abstract
is removed from gases lean in S, to a residual content of 40 ppm CO2, by washing the gases with an org. solvent at approx. ambient temp., circulating in a closed circuit within the absorption and regeneration appts. Spec. the solvent is N-methylpyrolidone, contg. 0.5 - 30 (esp. 1) wt.% H2O; it is regenerated and purified by purging with air or a gas lean in CO2. The CO2 is efficiently removed and can be recovered in a purity of 99.9 vol.%.
