Abstract

A part of the liquid leaving the heater-condenser is recycled to the ammonation appts. and the CO2 desorbed from the liquid in the condenser is passed directly to the carbonation columns. Preferably the amount of liquid recycled is up to 30% of the total wt. of purified brine and precarbonated or non-precarbonated caustic soda introduced in the ammonation appts., and is cooled before being recycled.
